White Pigment ink on Black cardstock

White Pigment ink on Black cardstock

Today, I’m using White Pigment ink on Black Cardstock using the New 3D Botanicals collection from Spellbinders. I love how this looks on it’s own, but I take the embossed images a step further and add interference inks on one set of cards and Distress inks on the second set. This creates a unique chalky look with some colour that is a perfect background to add the black cat silhouette die cut. Ad

For the first set of Cards uses the Floral for You 3D Embossing Folder with White pigment ink on Black Mixed media Heavystock. The Heavystock is misted lightly with a Distress Sprayer on both sides of the Cardstock before being placed in the 3D Embossing folder and run through the Spellbinders platinum 6 Machine. I then took it out of the embossing folder and let the Heavystock dry completely before putting it back into the Embossing folder and taping it into place. The Heavystock was taped onto the side with the floral details bumping out so that when I inked the opposite side with the White pigment ink pad, that ink would be transferred onto the background part of the Embossed image. The step with the White Pigment ink can be repeated several times to build up that pigment ink to your taste. I did it 3 times. I then placed the dies that come with the Embossing folders and cut out those embossed pieces before heat setting them with a Heat embossing tool. Once those images were heat set, I added Cloud 9 interference ink in Summer Garden, Sweet Treat, Tropical Paradise and Peacock Tails. I repeated this step as well to build up the ink as it does blend into the White pigment ink as it dries. I die cut Mats for the embossed images in black and white cardstock using the Essential arches die set and inked the edges with the Cloud 9 interference ink pads to add the colour and shimmer. The Embossed images and mats were assembled onto the Card Bases and then a Cat Silhouette die cut was added to finish off the image. Tiny Gems in Smoky Topaz and Berry were added for a touch of sparkle.

For second set of Embossed images, I used the Mushrooms from Me to you 3D Embossing folder and I used the same steps as the first set up untill adding coloured ink to the background. For this set, I used Distress ink pads in several different colours to add the colour over top the white pigment ink. This adds colour similar to the first set, but because they are regular dye inks, there is no shimmer to them like the first set has. The Mats for this set were created using the Scallop Labels and Tags die set. For this set of cards, I kept the mats black and white instead of inking them. I also added the black cat silhouettes to this batch as well. Once assembled onto the Card bases, I used stickles to add the glitter “stars” in the sky.
