Use Partial Die Cutting to create Unique Card Bases

In this video I’m using Partial Die cutting with the New Mirrored Arch Label dies from Spellbinders to create some unique and different card bases. I start off using the New Luxe backdrop & Border embossing folder to create a beautiful and unique Mothers day card front. I’m also creating a pillowbox with the Mirrored Arch Label dies to partial die cut the ends before embossing the die for the folded ends. Ad

I love using Partial Die cutting with my dies to create Unique and Unexpected Card bases. For the First card in this video, I used the Border part of the Luxe Backdrop and Border embossing folder. The border part of this Embossing folder has a die blade to create a quick and easy card with Beautiful Embossing and a Unique card edge at the same time as it is run through the Spellbinders Platinum 6 machine. The embossed flowers were lightly inked with Milled Lavender distress ink using a Detail Ink blending brush for a touch of colour. The same colour cardstock is used in the inside of the card to really show off and enhance the card edge. I used the Mother’s & Father’s day Sentiments press plates through the Betterpress System with the coloured cardstock and Embossed the sentinments with versamark ink and White Embossing powder to Coordinate with the colours on the card. The sentiment was added to the Card using Bearly art glue. A touch of stickles were added to the Centres of the Flowers for some sparkle.

To create the Unique card bases I used the Largest die from the New Mirrored Arch Label die set. It is the perfect size for an A2 card. I tape the die securely to the Card base and then place the top plate in the die cutting machine only on the part of the die that I want to cut. The rest of the cards are created using more of the Labels dies with the Mirrored Arch Blooms Press plate set and the Mirrored Arch Nested Sprigs press plate set to create lots of layers and dimension. Holographic and Gold Mirror Cardstock is used in some of the layers to add different textures. The coordinating blooms finish the cards off and are from the Be Bold Blooms die set.

For the Last project in this video, I used the largest of the Mirrored Arch Labels die with a full sheet of 8 1/2″ x 11″ Cardstock to create a Pillowbox. The Sheet of Cardstock is scored in half at 4 1/4″ along the full 11″ length using the Score pal. I then used the largest of the Mirrored Arch labels die to do partial die cutting on both folded ends. I then used the same die the opposite way on both folded ends and embossed the die to create the folded part of the pillow box. To seal the open long edge, I used a thin long scrap of cardstock, trimmed it to the length of the side and scored it along the whole length. I used strong double sided tape on both sides of the score line and use it to glue the open length together. The pillow box was finished off with a very simple gift tag created with a smaller Mirrored arch labels die on a folded piece of coloured cardstock and embellished with more Be Bold Blooms die cuts.
