Today, I’m creating Unique Poppy Cards using the New Yanas Poppies Collection from Spellbinders. Poppies are one of my favourite flowers so this collection was love at first sight for me. The poppy Background is stunning and having a Layering stencil for colouring it opens up some fun technique possibilities! Ad
I love the Image and detail of the Poppy Background press plate. For my first press, I pressed it without any ink to just create texture to use in my third card. For the First Card I used the plate with Bundled Sage distress ink and then used the coordinating Layer stencil with other distress inks to colour. The second card was pressed with Black Soot distress ink and then coloured with Peacock Tails and Summer Garden Cloud 9 interference pads using the Layer stencil. The first 3 cards are finished off with coordinating Betterpressed sentiments from the Let’s Celebrate set.
The Last 2 card use the Yana’s Poppy die set as the focal point. Card 3 is coloured with Sweet Treat and Summer Garden Cloud 9 interference inks before paper piecing on a Vellum shadow die cut. The Card is finished using the textured cardstock that was first betterpress with the background plate without ink.
The fourth card background was created by using the Mirror Arch blooms press plate with Versamark and heat embossed with silver embossing powder. To create the poppy, I added sookwang to cardstock before die cutting. After die cutting with the die on the tape backing side of the tape, I removed the backing section by section and “coloured” using Pink Gimball, Grape soda and Pewter perfect pearls.
