Unique Card Background Techniques with Cloud 9 Interference Pads

In this video I’m sharing some Unique Card Background Techniques using Cloud 9 Interference Pads. These are amazing pads that show up one colour on white cardstock and a different colour on black cardstock. I’m using different ways to add black with these inks to create different and interesting backgrounds.

For the First Backgrounds, I used Saran or Cling wrap and crumpled it and stuck it to a Waffle Flower Grip mat to hold it in place. I inked up the wrap with a black soot distress pad before pressing my cardstock on the ink. Once all of the backgrounds had the distress ink on it, I used Cloud 9 interference pads in different colours and applied the ink directly onto the cardstock. These interference pads have a different appearance on black than they do on white so this created some unique backgrounds. These backgrounds were turned into cards with a Treeline die cut, an anemones die cut cut out of Velvet adhesive cardstock and a Botanical Collage stamp embossed in white.

For the Second set of backgrounds, I created distress style backgrounds on Mixed Media cardstock using a couple different interference ink pad colours with black soot distress ink and drying the ink between layers. Once done, I used a floral stencil and Roses stencil on the 2 different backgrounds using white and black texture paste. When the texture paste was dry, the stencils were put back on the background and the interference pads were inkblended on the surface of the dried paste. One card was completed with a Bird die cut created with leftovers of the first backgrounds and the other card was create with a layered butterfly die cut created with leftovers of the first backgrounds. The birds eye was finished with Glossy accents and the Butterfly body was finished with Black enamel accents for extra shine and added dimension.
