Spellbinders Glimmering Peonies Cards

Spellbinders Glimmering Peonies Cards

In this video, I’m playing around with the Spellbinders Glimmering Peonies hot foil plate and coordinating Layering stencil. I already did a video with this collection, but wanted to try out foiling on dark cardstock as well as using the layering stencil on it’s own without the hot foil plate and love the results! Ad

I love the New Glimmering Peonies hot foil plate and coordinating Layering stencil and wanted to pull it out again to play with it using different techniques than I used in my last video.

For the First Card, I used the Glimmer plate with Prism foil on dark Indigo cardstock using the Glimmer machine. To colour the image, I first used white pigment ink and inked the top part of the flowers and leaves with it using all 5 of the Layering stencils. I used my Embossing tool to set that ink and washed off the stencils before using them again to colour the florals and greens using Cloud 9 interference inks. I love how these inks show up differently on light colours than they do on dark cardsock. I used Topical paradise for the flowers and Summer Garden for the Greens and pulled out Regal Grey for the last stencil that fills in some of the smaller greens. I also used the Summer Garden Ink pad refill along with the Tim Holtz Splatter brush to add spatter and speckles to the background. After that I also used sterling foundry wax with the Splatter brush to add silver splatters. A heat tool was used with the foundry wax to bring the silver leaving to the surface. A Silver Sharpie was used around the edges to frame it before adding it to the Card Base using Bearly Art glue. A simple coordinating hello sentiment from a previous foiling session was added to finish off the front of the Card.

The Second Card was created using the Layering stencils without the hot foil plate. I used various Distress inks to ink blend on Hammermill cardstock with ink blending brushes. I also used the splatter brush with this card to create some texture using Statue foundry wax. I also applied foundry wax around the outer edges of the image piece. Once again I used a heat tool on the foundry wax to bring the leafing to the surface. The Image was trimmed down and attached to the Card base and the car was finished off using a Thanks sentiment that was die cut from Gold mirror cardstock.

The third card was create using the remaining foil after creating the image for the first card. I used a solid hot foil plate with the foil and my Glimmer machine and transferred it onto Hammermill cardstock. I ink blended Villainous potion distress ink to bring more contrast to the image. It was then trimmed down and added to the card base and finished off with a simple die cut Thanks sentiment.
