Six Unique Embossed Backgrounds

Six Unique Embossed Backgrounds

In this video, I’m creating 6 Unique Embossed Backgrounds using the New Luxe Backdrop & Border 3D Embossing Folder from Spellbinders. Embossing is an easy and great way to to add texture to the backgrounds of cards. They can easily be kept plain, but it’s also fun and fairly easy to step them up as well! Ad

For my first 3 backgrounds in this video, I used different colours of Cardstock in the Luxe Backdrop & Border Embossing folder from Spellbinders. I like to use a distress sprayer to lightly mist my cardstock before embossing and then I let them dry. Once dry, I used Foundry Wax on the White embossed background and applied it with a Collage Brush. I also applied foundry wax to a plain piece of cardstock to die cut embellishments for the front of the card. I used a Heat tool on the Foundry wax to bring the leafing to the surface. The Frame die cut on the front of the card is created using the New Mirrored Arch Label dies. A simple Hello sentiment and Butterfly die cut finish the card off.

For the Pink Embossed Background, I used an Ink Blending brush to apply Picked Raspberry distress ink to the Raised part of the Embossed background. I also used the same ink on the Floral die cuts from the Be Bold Blooms die set that were then used to embellish the front of the card. The last detail is a touch of stickles in the centres of some flowers.

For the Blue Embossed Background I put the background back into the Embossed folder and taped it in place with yellow tape. I then used a brayer to apply white pigment ink on the other side of the embossing folder before closing it and putting it back through my Spellbinders Platinum 6 machine. This applies the white ink to the recessed part of the embossed background. I then used an ink blending brush with Uncharted Mariner distress ink to add ink to the raised part of the background. That same ink is used to ink the white flower die cuts from the same die set used in card 2. The sentiment is a previously foiled sentiment done during foiling for other projects.

For the fourth background, I sprinkled some Victorian Bouquet Magicals directly on the Embossing folder using a fan brush and misted with water before laying down the Distress watercolor cardstock, closing the folder and running through the die cutting machine. Once I took it out I layed it aside to dry. Once dry , I added it to the card base, added a Butterfly die cut ink blended with Seedless preserves distress ink and a previously foiled sentiment.

The fifth background uses Under the Boardwalk Flat magicals on Distress watercolor cardstock to create a colorful background. It was misted with water to get the magicals flowing and blending and then set to dry. Once dry, I taped it into the embossing folder and applied Black Distress ink to the other side directly from the pad before putting it through the die cutting machine to transfer the ink. This step can be repeated multiple times till you have as much black ink transferred as you like. The card is finished off simply with a Flower die cut from the Floral Stems die set.

For the sixth and last background, I taped the cardstock into the embossing folder and used a Brayer to apply Versamark ink to the other side. Once I folded and put it through the die cutting machine, I took the cardstock out of the Embossing folder and sprinkled different colours of Distress Glaze onto the background till the Versamark ink was completely covered and Embossed the powder with an Embossing tool. I used the same Embossing glazes with Versamark ink on the Butterfly die cut to create an embellishment that coordinates beautifully with the background. Once again, I used a previously foiled Sentiment to finish off the card.
