Press plate techniques for card making

Today I’m sharing more Press Plate Techniques for Card making. I’m using the New Mirrored Arch Collection release for March sent to me from Spellbinders Paper Arts to create with and share with you. The Mirrored Arch dies work so well with the Press Plates for creating different Layers and the different Press plates can be used to create either a Feminine or Masculine look. The Sentiments are prefect for both Mothers & Fathers day. I’ll be doing the 3 main Techniques twice and using each of those in different ways so you can see 2 different ways to use each Technique creating 6 cards total. Ad

For the First couple cards, I Pressed both the Mirrored Arch Blooms Press Plate and the Mirrored Arch Nested Sprigs Press plate in the Betterpress system using betterpress cardstock and ink. The Mirrored Arch blooms image was coloured with Jewel tone Chalks that have a pearlescent finish that gives them just a touch of shimmer. I used the Mirrored Arch labels die set to add layers with both the Sentiment in the centre as well as the black cardstock mat to add some dimension. The edge of the blooms were fussy cut with detail scissors before adding on top of black cardstock and adding to the Card base. The centres of the blooms were finished off with Stickles.

The Nested Sprigs image was watercoloured with pewter perfect pearls and also Layered with dimension using the Mirrored arch label die set. The simple colour scheme of grey, silver and black gives a bit more of a masculine look. The mirrored arch border around the sentiment is accented with silver lining crystal drops for extra dimension. All of the Cards were assembled with Bearly Art glue.

For the second technique, I inked and dry embossed using the Spellbinders platinum 6 and the stacking for embossing a die. Before dry embossing I Inked the Mirrored Arch Nested Sprigs press plate with Peeled Paint distress ink . This gives a fantastic deep impression. Once again extra layers and dimension is added with the Mirrored arch labels dies. Glisten stickles are added to some of the greenery around the outer edge for extra sparkle.

The Mirrored Arch Blooms press plate was inked with a gold ink pad before dry embossing on black cardstock. The centres of the flowers are finished with tiny nail gems placed easily with a Jewel picker.

For the third technique, I’m using the Mirrored Arch Blooms press plate with a Versamark pad on Watercolor cardstock and Embossing with Clear Embossing powder. Each of the Blooms is watercoloured with Distress re-inkers and the clear embossing will easily resist that watercolouring. The Mirrored Arch blooms die set was once again used to add layers to the centres. One of the Mirrored arch centres was embossed with the new Luxe Backdrop & Border Embossing folder for added texture. One of the watercoloured Mirrored Arch Blooms images was misted with shimmer mist created in a mini mister with water and Perfect pearls. The sentiments on both cards were created with the Betterpress and the new Mother’s & Father’s day Sentiments press plate and die set. The centres of the flowers on both cards were finished with Stickles for extra sparkle.
