Today I’m creating Holiday Window Shadow boxes using the New Timeless Trees collection. I thought this collection paired well with the Vista view window die set to create some unique light up Holiday decor. Ad

The die cuts used to create the Scene for both shadowboxes are the Classic Christmas tree, Mantle Decorations and Mantle village die set. The front is created using the Vista View Window die set as well as the Bark Embossing folder. Both Shadow box frames are finished off with a Betterpress heat embossed sentiment from the Home for the Holidays Press plate & die set.
The first shadow box is created with a 10″ x 12″ piece of Cardstock and is Scored and folded to create the frame. It is likely easiest to watch how I do it in the video for the scoreing and cutting to make the most sense. It is scored at 1/2″, 1″, 1 1/2″ and 2″ from the edge on all 4 sides. On the 2 long sides an additional score mark is done at 2 1/2″ and 9 1/2″ but it is only scored for 1″ from the edge up to the second score line. On the short sides, the inner most score line are cut 2″ in up to the last score line. On the long sides, a short cut is created along the last 1″ score lines that were created. A diagonal cut is created from the end of that cut line over towards the outside of the cardstock to the cross section of the next score lines and then a straight 1/2″ cut up to the end of the cut from the short sides. All edges are folded in the same way and the short sides are glued down first to create a square tunnel for the frame. After the short sides have started to set the long sides can be assembled.
This shadow box is done in a Non-traditional colour palette using Spellbinders cardstock in Dahlia, Waterfall, Teal Topaz, Fog and Lunar Grey. The silver metallic accents are from the Silver Treasured Cardstock pack. The tree and foliage on the mantle were cut from white glitter cardstock. Foam tape is used to support and add layers of dimension. Before assembly the tree is wrapped with battery operated lights that are threaded in from the back side of the frame. The Sentiment is pressed with Versamark ink & heat embossed with Silver Embossing powder.
The second shadow box is created using a pre-purchased 5″ x 7″ shadow box frame. A hole was drilled into the particle board back to thread the tiny lights through to light up the tree. This shadow box is created with a more Traditional Holiday colour palette using Spellbinders cardstock in Forest, Fern, Latte & Crimson. The gold accents were created with different cardstocks from the Gold Treasured cardstock pack. The sentiment is heat embossed with Gold Embossing powder.
