Die Cut Floral Cards

Die Cut Floral Cards

In this video I’m creating some Die Cut Floral Cards using the Spotlight Frames & Floral Collection from Lisa Horton & Spellbinders. I love the uniqueness of the dies in this collection, it lends itself to many different styles and techniques! Ad

I love the uniqueness of this Collection from Spellbinders & Lisa Horton! The frames and woven Background texture dies create an interesting background for the floral die cuts and I love that the Sentiment die cut has 3 layers and includes sub-sentiment stamps that coordinate and have their own die to die cut the sub-sentiments. I used the You make me Smile sentiment die and stamp set for all of the cards created in this video.

For my first 3 cards, I used the Layered Anemone die set and used various Distress ink pads to ink blend for additional colour and visual dimension. I wanted to try achieve the looks of different flowers with the first one being Anemones, the Second one poppies and the Third Cosmos. I love how the simple look of this die set lends itself well to changing the look of the flowers. I added a Woven Lattice texture die cut behind it before adding the flowers and Smile sentiment. The second card uses a Stitched edge circle die cut as a base before adding the florals. For the third card, I used the cardstock that remained after die cutting the sub-sentiments and used it as a stencil to ink blend on the background before adding the florals.

I used the Layered Iris die set for the Florals on my fourth and fifth card. For my first one, I wanted the floral to like the Classic purple iris and for the next one, I thought the die cut shape looked similar to pink Orchids and tried to create that look. I decided not to do any ink blending with the 4th card to show how it looks when just using different coloured cardstocks. Both Cards have die cuts from the Stitched Edge Circle die set as a base before adding the florals.
