Today, I’m sharing Creative Press Plate Techniques using the NEW Every Occasion Floral Alphabet. There are so many different ways to create with these Betterpress plates and I love that each one has a sentiment with it. In this video, I’m using the plates in 6 different ways. Ad
To create the cards in this video, I’m using several Letters from the New Every Occasion Floral Alphabet Collection from Spellbinders and creating different cards using many different techniques to show how versatile these plates are and the MANY different ways they can be used!
For My first card, I’m using the Every Occasion Floral T press plate with it’s included sentiment to create a traditionally Betterpressed card with Betterpress ink and Cardstock in the Betterpress System using the Spellbinders Platinum 6 to press the plate. I coloured the floral image simply with a Tombow marker for the greenery and some Perfect Pearls to watercolour the flowers. The card background is embossed with the new Flowers & Foliage 3D Embossing folder for some beautiful texture. The centres of the flowers are finished with perfect and tiny nail gems for some sparkle.
For the Second card, I used the Every Occasion Floral W Press Plate with the included sentiment. I used Versamark ink and embossed the Image with Black Embossing powder before filling each area in using an Embossing pen and Distress Embossing glaze for a very simple but beautiful Sympathy Card.
The Third Card technique uses the Every Occasion Floral O press plate in the Glimmer Machine where the O and Sentiment are foiled onto Hammermill cardstock with beautiful Aura Glimmer Foil. I used the tiny flowers and leaves dies from the Spellbinders Shopping spree die set and cut them out of cardstock and inked with Distress inks using detail ink blending brushes. I sculpted those flowers for dimension using a stylus and embossing pad before gluing them onto the card with Bearly art glue. Tiny nail gems were added to the centres of the flowers for sparkle before assembling the card.
For the Fourth card I wanted to share a way to foil without needing a Hot Foiling machine. I used Decofoil transfer gel and applied it to the Every Occasion Floral J press plate using a make-up wedge sponge to create a thin layer. I pressed it onto black cardstock and let it dry till the gel was clear. Once dry, I added Opal deco foil over top using the pressure of my Spellbinders platinum 6. Decofoil gel uses either the pressure of a die cutting machine or the heat from a laminator to apply the foil. Once the foil was applied, I added Interference inks from Lisa Horton in Lemon candy and Lavender fields for Irridescent shine.
For the Fifth card, I wanted to try the Every Occasion Floral Y with Simon Hurley Stamping form and Distress ink pads. I love the way that it turned out! I layered the distress inks to build up the colour and to make sure it stamped in the exact same place, I used an Acrylic L stamping block for perfect placement. The card was finished off with a Coordinating Embossed background using the same folder as the first card but with pink cardstock and a previously foiled sentiment and stickles in the centres of the flowers.
The Last card is using the Every Occasion Floral T Press plate and coordinating sentiment again with Black soot distress ink on the bottom and softened with a blending brush and put through the platinum 6 machine. That step was repeated a second time to make sure to get good coverage with the black pad. Then I used a Cloud 9 interference ink pad in Summer Garden to create the Ombre effect. The interference ink pad shows up one colour on the black ink and another colour on the light cardstock creating a cool effect with great irridescent shimmer. Nail Gems finished off the centres of these flowers as well for some extra sparkle.
