Today, I’m sharing ways for creating Layers & Texture with die cuts using the La Dolce Vita die collection from Spellbinders. As well as die cutting regular cardstock and different metallic cardstocks to create texture, ink blending also adds visual texture and interest to die cuts. Ad

Before creating any cards, the La Dolce Vita sentiments press plate & die set is used in the Betterpress system. The sentiments were pressed with Versamark ink on Hammermill cardstock and then heat embossed with Gold embossing powder before being die cut to use on most of the cards.
The first card uses the Citrus spritz die set for the lemon embellishments and the Lemon fresco embossing folder for the background. The embossed background and die cuts were ink blended before assembly to add visual dimension. The heat embossed pressed senitiment is ink blended with Peeled paint distress ink so that is shows up better on the background.

The second card also uses the Lemon fresco Embossing folder for the background. The Beyond the door die set was used with Peridot, Rainfores, Beeswax and Tuscan cardstock to create the Lemon wreath for a unique way to use the Beyond the door die set and create a wreat with lots of layers and texture.
The third card uses the Ruby Treasured cardstock pack with the Ciao Spaghetti die set. Every one of the metallic finishes from the Ruby pack is used to create many different lips. Anchor cardstock is used for the background, shadows and card matt. The hugs sentiment is from the Vivid script sentiments die set and the & is from the Fabulous birthday die set. Once assembled, Glossy accents is added to some of the lips for a little extra gloss & shine.

The fourth card uses the Dockside Dreams die set. The background is blended with Distress inks in Saltwater Taffy, Shaded Lilac, Weathered Wood and Chipped sapphire to create a sunset sky. To add interest to the ship, different pieces are die cut from both the Onyx and Ruby treasured cardstock pack. The front wave is added to the card with foam pop dots and star dust stickles add a little sparkle to the waves.
The fifth card uses the Under the sun die set with a combination of regular cardstock and Antique & Gold treasured cardstock. The everlasting circles die set is used to cut an opening to the card front and a 6″ piece of white cardstock is scored at 1″, 2″, 4″ and 5″ to create a platform to glue the sun to so that it moves as the card is opened and is able to be seen on the inside of the card as well. A La Dolce Vita sentiment is added to the front of the card and 2 of the Heat embossed press sentiments were added to the inside of the card.

The last two cards are created with the Beyond the door die set. For the sixth card, the essential arches die set is used to create a shaped card base and all of the die cuts are added to the card front. Stickles are added to the flower centres and water for a little extra sparkle.
For the seventh card a shadowbox card base is created by cutting 2 pieces of cardstock 5 1/2″ x 6 1/4″. On the 6 1/4″ side, the cardstock is scored at 1/2″ and 1″ from each end. This is done on both pieces. The piece for the back of the card is stencilled on the inside with the Uncharted waters Layer stencil set to create a beautiful waterfront scene. For the card front, the inner door opening die set is used on the card front. The front and back are adhered together with scor tape. The rest of the die cuts are added to the card front to complete the scene. Stickles are added to the flower centres for a little sparkle.
