In this video, I’m creating Window Cards with Nesting dies. This Technique can be done with any nesting die set and is a fun way to add a unique twist when Card Making. I use Acetate in the window as it makes a great surface to adhese the Peony die cuts to, you could also use vellum or leave the window open and glue the edges of the die cuts together for a more lacey look. I love using my Nesting dies creatively. In this video I’m using several different sizes of the Essential Arches dies and Mirrored Arch Labels dies to create frames for windows on the fronts of my cards as well as cutting out the window opening in the card front and cutting the piece of acetate. The windows were decorated with the new Peony Celebration die cut that was die cut from beautiful dark Purple specialty cardstock, light purple cardstock that was ink blended with detail ink blending brushes and light green cardstock that was also ink blended with Distress inks. The Peony Celebration die set has 2 different dies. One is a floral with a lot of detail and the second is a shadow die. That shadow die was used to cut vellum to create a base to piece the other die cut pieces on. Once the Peony die cuts were done, they were assembled onto the vellum shadow and then arranged on the acetate piece to fit in the window. The card is assembled by adding the frame to the decorated acetate window piece and then added to the front of the card base using Bearly Art Glue in a fine tipped bottle. The card is finished with a simple Thanks sentiment cut from white cardstock and the same dark purple specialty cardstock. In order to hide the message written within the card. A top folding card was glued inside that is slightly smaller than the card with the window front. If you are not able to find the coloured specialty cardstock, I also show you how to create your own in the video using holographic cardstock and alcohol inks.
