Coastal Fair Winds Card with a Gate Fold

Coastal Fair Winds Card with a Gate Fold

In this video, I’m creating a Coastal Fair Winds Card with a Gate Fold. I love all of the dies in the Fair Winds collection and wanted to use them all in a card and this Gate Fold style card offeres the perfect solution and creates an interactive card in the process. It stands up nicely to create a beautiful Coastal Scene for display. Ad

I love the New Fair Winds collection from Spellbinders. I wanted to create a card using all of the dies from the collection on one card, but it would be too cluttered on a standard A2 card base. This Gate fold design is the perfect solution. The card folds nicely to fit into an A2 Envelope but opens up to stand on display. The Background was created using the Uncharted Waters Layering stencil with various Distress ink pads on Hammermill Cardstock with streaks of Stickles and Transparent Gloss texture paste over the water. While that was drying, I die cut and assembled the other components for the card using the Set Sail, Guiding Light and Oh Buoy! die sets. Once assembled, the die cuts were lightly ink blended for some added dimension.

The Card base was created by cutting a piece of 8 1/2″ x 11″ cardstock in half to create 2 pieces that were 11″ x 4 1/4″. Those pieces were scored at 5 1/2″ and 2 3/4″. The large areas of those scored pieces were glued together with the scored pieces outside the right and left side to create the Gate Fold. Once the stencilled background had dried, One was cut down to 4″ x 5 1/4″ and the other one was cut into 2 pieces that were 4″ x 2 1/2″ and added to the card base and then the rest of the die cut pieces were added to the card base.
