Blog Hop -Take Flight Press plate Techniques

Today, I’m taking part in Spellbinders January Clubs for 2025 Blog Hop! I’m sharing Take Flight Press plate Techniques using the Take Flight Betterpress of the Month. I love how versatile the Betterpress System is and the many different ways to use them. These are a couple of my favourite techniques and I pair them with other Spellbinders Clubs for this month. Ad

Visual Supply list below.

When trying to decide what Technique I wanted to use with the Spellbinders Take Flight Betterpress plate of the Month, I kept going back and forth between these two. I finally decided to just do both of them! Both cards are 5″ x 7″ to accomodate for the nice large size of the butterflies.

For my First Card, I used both Butterflies plus one of the Sentiment press plates in the Betterpress system. I inked the plates with Versamark ink and Heat embossed them with Silver Embossing powder. After Embossing, I die cut both Butterflies and the Sentiment with the coordinating dies in the BPOM set.

I wanted to colour the Butterflies with Interference ink pads and I love using Black & Grey ink to Highlight BOTH properties of the ink. The Bonus Caboodle item for this Month is the Coordinating Layer stencil set to colour the Butterflies. I used that different layers of the stencil set to ink blend Hickory Smoke & Black soot distress ink towards the body of the Butterflies and then used Cloud 9 Interference pads in: Opal Blush, Lavender Fields & Summer Garden with the different stencils. I also used Stickles glitter gel for the areas with the Summer Garden Interference ink to add extra texture & sparkle. Dots of Glossy accents also add extra shine & texture.

Floral die cuts from the Botanical Atrium Large Die of the Month were used for both cards. For the first card, they were ink blended with Interference inks and for the second card, they were ink blended with Distress inks. Both cards have embossed backgrounds. The first card features the Stylized Lattice 3D Embossing folder of the Month & the second card features the Faceted Petals Embossing folder of the Month. Dots of Stickles & Nuvo drops finish the flower centres.

For the Second card, I used the Take Flight Betterpress Plate of the Month in My Glimmer system, using Aura Glimmer foil on Clear Dura-lar. To colour the Foiled Butterflies, I used Alcohol inks on the BACK side of the dura-lar in Cosmopolitan, Bayou & Juniper spreading it around with an Alcohol ink blower tool. Once dry, the Butterflies and sentiment were die cut with the coordinating dies. I opted to use just one of the Butterflies for this card and arranged the Florals differently than the first card. Bearly Art glue in a Fine Line bottle was used to glue everything. When gluing the Dura-lar Butterfly, I made sure dots of glue were behind the foil. For the sentiment, I spread glue over the whole back side to ensure glue dots weren’t visible from the front. Gold Mix color Essential Gems were added in several places to the background of this card.
