In this video I’m using the Every Occasion Floral Alphabet Press Plates from Spellbinders to Create Joy Blocks in Spring colours. These press plates are not only great for creating cards with the sentiments but you can also use just the letters on their own for different projects. Here I am spelling Joy, but you can spell any word you like for some unique Home Decor. Ad
To create the first set of Blocks, I used the Betterpress ink to press the Every Occasion Floral Alphabet letter onto the Watercolor Cardstock using the Betterpress system and the Spellbinders Platinum 6. Once I had pressed all of the letters, I used Distress watercolor Pencils to watercolor the Flowers and the Greenery. A dot of stickles was added to the centres of each of the flowers once the watercolour had dried. The stickles adds the perfect amount of sparkle. Once the stickles was dried, I used my trimmer to trim the pieces down to 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ and then added them into the Acrylic picture frames. These frames have 2 pieces that are heald together with strong magnets so the image can be changed when desired. To finish off the blocks I added a coordinating green ribbon bow and flower die cuts from the Shopping spree die set that were inked with Shaded Lilac distress ink to coordinate with the flowers on the letters. These are perfect for spring but the colours and words could be changed easily to create blocks for different seasons.
For the Second set of blocks I used baseball card holders for the blocks and the letters were hot Foiled onto Cardstock with Pastel satin glimmer foil using the Glimmer machine along with the Spellbinders Platinum 6. I used my trimmer to cut down my foiled letters to fit into the baseball card holders. I used die cut flowers and leaves from the Shopping spree die set to add dimension to the floral areas of the Foiled letters. The flowers were die cut out of white cardstock and ink blended with detail ink blending brushes in coordinating distress ink colours to match the foiled letters. The flowers were shaped with the help of a stylus and embossing mat to give them a more life like look. The flowers are glued to the letters using Bearly art glue in a fine tipped bottle. Once the glue had dried, a tiny Nail gem was added to the centre of the flowers for some additional sparkle. The Foiled and flowered letters were glued inside the holders so they stayed in place and a piece of white cardstock was also glued to the back of the holder to hide the adhesive. These blocks were also finished with ribbon and a few of the extra flower die cuts.
